about

Englinks is aimed at English language learners looking for free online resources. The links provided are mainly videos, reading and listening  content and online games.

Englinks was created and is maintained by Chris Cooper, an English language teacher living and working in Himeji, Japan. Chris has an MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), lots of experience teaching young learners, particularly at public elementary school in Japan, and since April 2018 began working as an English Lecturer at Himeji Dokkyo University. Chris also has two young children who are being raised as bilingual English and Japanese speakers in Japan.

Englinks is influenced by the theory of Comprehensible Input (Krashen, 1982), basically meaning that if you understand what you listen to, watch or read you will naturally acquire language. Here is a fairly old but very good explanation from Stephen Krashen himself of Comprehensible Input

Englinks also aims to provide a source of Extensive Listening (Waring, 2010) and Extensive Reading (Day, 2010). In a similar vein, meaning that if you listen to and read texts that you can just about understand, you will naturally acquire language.

This site is an independent site and represents the recommendations of one English educator. It is not made in conjunction with any of the sites which it provides links to, nor does the site profit financially from any of the sites recommended.
